Aug 13, 2010 :  It was the 2nd ODI match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka at Dumbulla Cricket Stadium Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka looks better than New Zealand. The New Zealand team won the toss and decided to bat first. The start was not a good one for New Zealand as Malinga picked up the wicket of Guptill after adding a duck to his name. It was a huge responsibility on team Captain Ross Tylor. Both the players tried very hard added 40 runs but Ross Tylor failed to convert a start into big runs got out at the bowling of Mathews. The New Zealand team total score was 47 runs at the loss of 2 wickets. New Zealand team Players not able to stay at crease got out in quick sessions. The Sri Lankan bowlers were pleased with their performance. New Zealand team middle order failed to deliver in this match. The wickets were falling at regular intervals. With the help of McCullum 36 runs New Zealand team was all out at 192 runs in 48 over. It was a not a good score.

The Sri Lanka team restricted New Zealand team to low score. Sri Lanka team started their run chase with Tharanga and Dilshan. The start was not a good one for Sri Lanka Dilshan departs early at the bowling of Mills after scoring 5 runs. The Captain Sangakara along with Tharanga added useful runs for Sri Lanka. Both the players added 85 runs for the 2nd wicket. Upal Tharanga scored anther half century of his career. The math was sleeping towards Sri Lanka team favor. The home team utilizes the condition of the wicket. The Captain Sangakara was out after scoring 48 runs in 62 balls. After the wicket of Sangakara Sri Lankan middle order was collapsed as Jaywardane and Mathews got out early. Tharanga looked in good touch. New Zealand team with those wickets bounces back into the contest. Tharanga was out after scoring 70 runs in 109 balls. It was a big wicket for New Zealand. It was Samaraveera who took the home team to the victory gate. Samraweera along with tail enders stroked the winning shorts for Sri Lanka. In the end Sri Lanka won the match by 3 wickets.
