Aug 16, 2010 : It was the 3rd ODI match between India vs Sri Lanaka at Dambulla Cricket ground of Sri Lanka. Team India had to won this match for the chances into the finals. The Coin was turn in the favor of Sri Lankan and they deceided to bat first. Sri Lanka team started their innings with Upal Tharanga and Dilshan. The start was not a good one for Sri Lanka as parveen kumar bowled out Tharanga in the very first over of the match. It was a dream start for team India. The Peacer bowled in very good line and length and break down the scoring rate of Sri Lanaka. The Indian peacer wraps up the top order of Sri Lanka as Sangakara Jaywardne and Samraveera was not able to add 10 run to their names. The total team score of Sri Lanka was 44 runs at the loss of 4 wickets. Dilshan was the last hope of Sri Lanka he is looked in good form and played some brilliant shorts. In a attempt of increasing the run rate he was got out after scoring 45 runs in 65 balls. The Sri Lanakan team was in deep trouble. After this wicket Sri Lanka team not able to find a big partnership and wickets was falling at regular intervals. In the end with a brilliant performance of Randiv along with Kulasekara Sri Lanka finally score 170 runs in 46 over.

Team India pleased with their bowling performance. They restricted Sri Lanka team to a low score. Sehwag and Karthik started the run chase for team India. The start was not a good one for team India as Karthik was out at the bowling of Mathews. The Sri Lanka team got the break through. After that Kohli and Sharma continued their bad form and got out after scoring a duck to their names. The total score of team India was 32 runs at the loss of 3 wickets.  Team India needs a big partnership to get things going in thier favor. It was Raina and Sehwag who got together and break the hopes of Sri Lankan team. Both the playeres dominated the Sri Lankan bowling attack and pull things back in team India favor. suresh Raina was unfortunate to got out after scoring 21 runs in 35 balls. The man who done the damage for team India was Virendar Sehwag he played one of the best innigns of his life.The Captian Dhoni and Sehwag carried the momentum and got team India to the victory gate. In the end with brlliant innings from virendar sehwag 99 runs in 95 balls and well supported in the middle orde by team Captain Dhoni and Raina team India beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets.
