April 30, 2010 : Today was a match between Sri Lanka vs New Zealand in ICC Twenty20 World Cup Season 2010. This was the first match of the T20 world cup. The match was played at Providence,West Indies. Sri Lanka team won the toss and elected to bat first. The bad form of Tilakratne Dilshan coasting Sri Lanka team Sri Lanka loss their early wickets as Dilshan and Sangakara was got out in the power play over. The total team score of Sri Lanka was 44 at the loss of two wickets in 8.2 overs. At the first half of match the New Zealand team was at the top of Sri Lankan side. The Second half of match belongs to the Mahela Jaywardne he played some classic shorts and gave some momentum to the Sri Lanka team Innings. He was well supported by L Chandimal at the other end. Mahela Jaywardne scored another half century in the T20 world Cup. Jaywardne departs after making 81 runs in 51 balls. The Sri Lanka team middle order fails to deliver good run for their team and In the end With the help of Jaywardne 81 runs the Sri Lanka team manage a total of 135 runs in 20 over.

It was not a tough chase for the New Zealand team. They started the Chase with Brendon McCullum and Jasey Ryder the New Zealand team start was not a good one there hard hitting batsmen McCullum departs for a duck at the bowling of Methews in the first Over. It was the much needed break through for the Lanka team. After that Ryder and Guptill showed some impressive batting and take the New Zealand score up to 50 runs in 8.4 over. After the first half the Sri Lankan team spin attack turned the match when Jaysuriya and Murlidharan picked the wickets of Ryder and Guptill. The match was nicely set up. Both the teams has equal chance to won the match for their side, but the New Zealand middle order batsmen N McCullum stroked some useful runs in the end and he added 16 useful runs in just 6 balls and take their team to the Victory. New Zealand team finally registered their first win in this T20 world Cup by 2 Wickets.
